Dear Blog:

I have access to the Internet for a while, so I thought I'd check in. Still getting used to the accent up here, as well as the difference in word usage compared to back home in the South. There, the dogwoods, wisteria and azaleas are well along their way to full bloom (and ushering in the faint beginnings of sweltering humidity and heat). Here, there is melting snow and the trees are still devoid of leaves (and I haven't heard a single redneck joke since I left, so I thought I'd include one now ~ something I should try in my own pickup truck this summer).

Anyway, I keep forgetting that restaurants don't serve their tea sweetened and I have seen my first real, live snowplow (previously seen only on TV). **Important Edit: To acknowledge my utter lack of comprehension of snowplow construction, I am posting this tidbit I received from Stumble friend stinkymajinky: "Just one little note, in your picture of the snow plow, as you look at it, that's the 'back' of the snow plow, not the front. The black hardware is what mounts the plow to the front of the truck and opposite the hardware is the plow which has a blade on the very bottom of it."** Ahem. Oops. Oh well. LOL.

Back home if it gets even remotely snowy or icy, they close our schools because we drive like idiots in the unfamiliar conditions, much like Californians and those in desert states (such as Arizona and Nevada) drive in the rain (pile-ups galore). Regardless, I always think everybody else but me drives like idiots anyway (of course!), but I digress.

I still feel a bit out of my element so I'm a little disoriented but I always enjoy going to new places and experiencing new things, even if it does take me a little time to adjust to change. It's good to see the familiar faces here on SU and be able to have this lovely little chat about basically nothing. LOL. Once I am able, I'll try to take some photos of anything interesting (I always forget my camera when I need it most) and post them, along with my usual sarcastic commentary.

Cheers, caile :-)

**UPDATE: It's snowing! For a southerner, that's pretty exciting stuff; I keep looking out the window feeling like I've been transported to another planet. LOL. For y'all who are used to (and sick of) snow, just humor me. :-P~~ Lemme rummage around in my photos and find one of my Calvin snow cartoons. Maybe later I'll go outside and make some snow hooters and take a photo.
